In January, the Alliance held a briefing that discussed obesity in the U.S. aging population. Two experts in the field discussed the negative effects of obesity on chronic disease in this group. A new study presents more evidence that obese and overweight aging Americans could be putting their health at risk.

While most people in a recent survey said they would encourage a loved one to seek early diagnosis if they suspected Alzheimer’s disease, when faced with the reality, only a small number sought out early diagnosis.

The most recent podcast series on the SAGE Crossroads website focuses on the economics on longevity science. During a conversation with Daniel Perry, the executive director of the Alliance for Aging Research, the topic of the “baby bust” arose. The baby bust, as Mr. Perry explained it, is the period when the baby boom generation retires from the paid workforce in droves, leaving a huge staffing and experience gap across the spectrum. This could have very damaging effects on the US economy.
