In the final series of The Silver Book® briefings looking at the growing burden of chronic disease and the promise of innovation, the Alliance for Aging Research focuses on diabetes. Diabetes is the fifth deadliest disease in the U.S. and the leading cause of kidney failure, adult-onset blindess, and nontraumatic lower limb amputations. Almost 21 million Americans have diabetes and 54 million have pre-diabetes.
