The Alliance for Aging Research held its 15th Annual Bipartisan Congressional Awards Dinner on Tuesday September 16, 2008 in Washington, D.C. The event raised funds awareness for the Alliance, a non-profit organization that advances scientific and medical discoveries to maximize healthy aging, independence and quality of life for older Americans. At the event, which was attended by representatives of more than 50 companies and organizations, awards were presented to those instrumental in advancing healthy aging in America. The recipients included:

  • U. S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), who was presented the Connie Mack Award for Advancing Healthy Aging Through Research
  • U.S. Representative Edward J. Markey (D-MA), who was presented the Claude Pepper Award for Advancing Healthy Aging Through Research
  • Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Founder, Center for Health Transformation, who was presented the Alliance for Aging Research’s Indispensable Person of the Year Award.
