Earlier this year the Alliance launched a new version of the highly-respected Silver Book® website that offers users convenient access to a comprehensive library of stats, facts, and infographics on diseases and conditions of older age. This includes diseases and conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, atrial fibrillation, osteoporosis, thrombosis, persistent pain, healthcare-associated infections, infectious diseases, and vision loss. Another condition, diabetic retinopathy, will be added in early 2016.
The Alliance’s Vice President of Health Programs Lindsay Clarke notes, “Our primary goal with the redesign was to make the site easier to navigate for the policymakers, thought leaders, and public health advocates from across the nation who turn to the site as a respected source for data. We encourage everyone to use our site for their own information and presentation needs.”
The site now features an improved search function and navigation. When you go to the homepage at silverbook.org, you can search by keyword via the search bar. You’ll then be taken to a list of relevant data that’s broken down into well-referenced, individual facts.
The site gives stats, which are updated on a regular basis, on the impact and prevalence of diseases, as well as how medical innovation and research help reduce the burden of these diseases. It also offers data on the rapidly aging U.S. population and its potential impact on health care and the economy.
Other helpful resources from the site include downloadable factsheets downloadable factsheets filled with infographics and other visual info about the various conditions. These are especially useful for visualizations in reports, presentations, blogs, and social media.
