The Trans-NIH GeroScience Interest Group (GSIG) will launch its 2016-2017 GSIG seminar series this Thursday, November 3, at the NIH campus, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The GSIG was created to further examine the relationships between the biology of aging and the biology of diseases and conditions of interest to the NIH.

The first GSIG seminar, titled “From the Human Genome Project to Precision Medicine: A Journey to Advance Human Health,” will be led by Dr. Eric Green, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).

Green has played a major role in bringing programs that help expand the Institute’s research mission. He has also worked in leadership roles to bring forth relevant programs in genomics through efforts such as, the Smithsonian-NHGRI exhibition “Genome: Unlocking Life’s Code,” the NIH Big Data to Knowledge Program (B2DK) program, the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy, and the U.S. Precision Medicine Initiative.

The event will be held on the NIH Campus at the Masur Auditorium and will stream live for those who cannot attend in-person. An archived videocast will be available here after the seminar.
