Assistant Director of Development – Alliance for Aging Research
Founded in 1986, the Alliance for Aging Research is a national advocacy organization working to improve the lives of Americans as they grow older by advancing medical and scientific research in aging and health. The Alliance seeks an Assistant Director to work with its senior leadership to expand the organization's fundraising and development activities and mobilize staff to achieve development goals. This position requires an energetic, creative development professional with a desire to work as a team to grow the organization. Experience with foundation and corporate prospect researching and fundraising is imperative.
The Assistant Director reports directly to the CEO and will be responsible for:
· Solicit financial support from corporations, foundations and individuals
· Produce and/or manage the production of development materials, including solicitations, donor reports, annual report and other collateral materials
· Seek out relevant networking opportunities to promote the Alliance and serve as its representative at such events
· Conduct prospect research and determine outreach strategies with Alliance leadership
· Assist with the Alliance’s annual fundraising gala
Development Management:
· Maintain the development calendar of activities and deadlines
· Track all corporate and foundation solicitations and work with relevant staff to ensure timely submissions
· Regularly reconcile grants revenues and projections with Finance Department and apprise Alliance leadership
· Oversee and maintain donor database (DonorPerfect) for completeness and accuracy
· Ensure timely communications and gift acknowledgements to donors
· Work with senior leadership to craft annual work plan and projections to grow revenue and oversee adherence to work plan milestones
· Set priorities and recommend tailored strategies to Alliance leadership for prospect cultivation and donor stewardship
· Enthusiasm for and commitment to the Alliance’s mission
· Bachelor’s degree required
· 5-7 years of fundraising experience, familiarity with healthcare sector helpful
· Demonstrated success in working as a member of a cohesive team and developing outstanding working relationships with donors, prospects, staff and Board members
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing proposals and other fundraising materials
· Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set, maintain, and meet deadlines
· Proven track record of fundraising success, especially from corporations and foundations
· Willingness to travel (up to 10%)
· Familiarity with budget process and tracking revenues
· Experience with fundraising databases, preferably DonorPerfect

Health Programs Internship The Alliance for Aging Research, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and accelerating the pace of medical research to promote independence and healthy aging, is seeking a dedicated, organized, and efficient individual for a health education and policy related internship. The position will assist in the implementation, and support of new health, policy, and research programs. Responsibilities will include conducting research; writing and editing articles, brochures, fact sheets, and other program materials; updating and maintaining on-line program information; maintaining program files and supporting materials; updating, expanding, and editing The Silver Book database; and representing the Alliance at various events and meetings. Some clerical work will also be required. Qualified individuals will possess effective problem solving, research and writing skills, work well in a team setting, show initiative, and communicate effectively.
