Pain

Around 100 million Americans live with persistent pain, more than those affected by diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined. Pain continues to increase for some people as they age. Around half of adults 65 and older have been diagnosed with arthritis, a common cause of persistent pain.

Experts face a growing dilemma in how to effectively manage persistent pain in older adults, particularly with the growing impact of overprescription of opioids. The Alliance is committed to working with partners to help find solutions to this issue.
