Alliance Debuts New Video on NIH’s Impact

Today the Alliance debuted a new video on the impact of the National Institutes of Health at the Rally for Medical Research in Washington, D.C.

This video calls on President Obama, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, and members of Congress to work together to increase funding in support of the valuable work of the NIH.

As we’ve written about in the past, medical research needs our support now more than ever. This video offers not just statistics on why the NIH matters, but shows real people who are passionate about the difference medical research has made in their lives. They are living proof of the impact of the NIH.

The video was introduced by our President and CEO Susan Peschin this morning at the rally.

She noted:

Sometimes, we’re lucky enough to have a day at work that changes us, that gives us way more than we thought and stays with us. The day we made the video you are about to see was one of those days. The individuals, parents, siblings, sons, and daughters who came together to participate blew us away with their passion and commitment in the face of tough fights. They’ve lived it. Many of us have lived it ourselves or have had loved ones who have, and there is tremendous power in going to Capitol Hill together to tell our stories.

We’d like to thank the following organizations for being a part of this video: Rally for Medical Research, American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, Dysautonomia International, Gerontological Association of America, National Aging in Place Council, Parkinson’s Action Network, Hydrocephalus Association, and Washington, D.C. Healthcare Advocates.
