HROTW: Video on What to Know About OTC Meds

March 3, 2016   |   Alliance for Aging Research Team   |   Persistent Pain, Medication Safety

Our Health Resource of the Week is a new video that introduces you to what you need to know about over-the-counter (OTC) pain medications.

You are probably among the tens of millions of Americans who reach for OTC medications to find relief from the minor aches and pains we get from time to time. OTC pain medications are effective and generally safe when used as directed. However, just because they are available without a prescription does not mean they are harmless. Also when you consider that there are more than 1,000 acetaminophen and NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) containing medications, choosing the right medication can seem overwhelming.

Here’s why you should watch our film above. It gives info about choosing the medication that’s right for you or your loved ones and tips on taking them safely. To learn more, go to our Medication Safety page.
