On May 16, the Alliance for Aging Research and partnering organizations hosted a Twitter chat on the importance of stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AFib).
AFib is the most common type of irregular heartbeat and affects over five million Americans. The risk of stroke is five times greater in someone with AFib than in someone without the disease. This Twitter chat highlighted the important relationship between AFib and stroke, common risk factors and symptoms, lifestyle tips to reduce the risk of stroke and prevent recurrent stroke, and valuable resources for patients and caregivers.
