New Book Looks at Aging with Honesty and Humor

January 13, 2016   |   Alliance for Aging Research Team   |   Healthy Aging, Cancer

At a briefing on Capitol Hill to debut our Silver Book:® Cancer volume and fact sheet last summer, we were introduced to Beverlye Hyman Fead, a nationally recognized speaker, writer, and producer.

Beverlye is an 80-something Californian who survived not one, but two, bouts with cancer. At the briefing, she shared her inspiring story about her journey with cancer and how innovative research helped her overcome the odds.

Today, we are pleased to tell you about a new book Beverlye has authored called Aging in High Heels: Living a Life with Passion, Hope & Laughter.

Part autobiographical, part inspirational, and 100 percent from the heart, this book beckons us to catch a glimpse of Beverlye’s life as an 80-something older adult. She invites you into her world as she expounds on the joys and challenges of aging. The times with family. The health issues—some annoying, some serious—that accumulate with age. The bliss of free time to pursue interests and new ventures. The absurdities and hilarious moments.

Beverlye also takes you back into the earlier years of her life, dispensing the lessons she learned as a girl growing up in Los Angeles and as a woman who raised a family, molded a career, and fought and beat cancer.

We invite you to read her book. No matter if you are just beginning your journey in life or taking a few victory laps, you’ll find Beverlye’s insights both relatable and inspirational. You can find more information here.
