75 Organizations Urge Congress to Support EPIC Act
Published September 15, 2025

The Alliance for Aging Research joined the Global Coalition on Aging and nearly 75 patient and provider organizations, on a letter that urges congressional leaders to support the Ensuring Pathways to Innovative Cures (EPIC) Act.
The letter raises concerns about the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) “pill penalty,” which allows small-molecule drugs to face Medicare price negotiations earlier than large-molecule drugs. This policy threatens investment in critical treatments for older adults and those with chronic or complex conditions, particularly since small-molecule medicines are essential in treating cancer, neurological diseases, HIV, and rare diseases, and are broadly easier for older adults to receive and administer.
The letter calls for swift passage of the EPIC Act, which would align negotiation timelines for all drugs at 11 years post-FDA approval, to safeguard biomedical innovation and protect patient access to life-saving therapies.
