What: The Alliance for Aging Research (Alliance) will release the results via webcast of new public opinion surveys that reveal Americans’ awareness of heart valve disease (HVD) and experiences of HVD patients as they are diagnosed and seek treatment. Survey results find that knowledge about the condition, which affects more than five million people in the U.S., is alarmingly low. For example, less than one in four people know somewhat or a great deal about HVD; 30 percent of those over the age of 65 say that they know nothing about HVD. This webcast will discuss the findings of these surveys, offer insights into the impact of the condition on Americans, and provide information about a new campaign to designate February 22 as National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day.

When: August 31, 2016, 10:00-11:00 a.m. EST
