Washington, D.C. – The Alliance for Aging Research announces two new members appointed to the organization’s Board of Directors: Harmeet Dhillon and Janet Woodcock. The two were formally approved for the positions at the Alliance’s fall 2024 Board meeting.
Harmeet Dhillon leads GSK’s Government Affairs, Public Policy & Patient Advocacy team. With 15 years of experience in policy, advocacy, new market strategy, and market access, he is responsible for managing GSK’s engagement strategy with policymakers and patient advocacy groups.
“I am excited to join the Board to help shape a health care system that incentivizes sustainable innovation, promotes the value of preventive medicine, and fosters equity and access to novel treatments,” said Dhillon.
Janet Woodcock is former Principal and Deputy Commissioner for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, serving February 2022 to February 2024. In this role she worked closely with the Commission of the FDA to develop and implement key public health initiatives and helped to oversee the agency’s day-to-day functions. She served as Acting Commissioner from January 2021 to February 2022.
“I’m delighted that I can continue to contribute to the Alliance’s vision for healthy and fulfilling aging. Particularly now that I’m part of that demographic,” said Dr. Woodcock.
The Alliance’s Board of Directors sets the strategic direction of the organization and guides its mission to change the narrative to achieve healthy aging and equitable access to care. The Alliance strives for a culture that embraces healthy aging as a greater good and values science and investments to advance dignity, independence, and equity.
“We are delighted to welcome Harmeet Dhillon and Janet Woodcock to our Board of Directors,” said Michele Markus, Board Chair and Head of Global Accounts for Omnicom Group. “Their wealth of experience and insight in policy and federal regulatory topics will be invaluable as we continue to navigate the exciting opportunities and challenges ahead. We look forward to their contributions and are confident that they will enhance our ability to achieve our strategic goals and help us to advocate for older adults even more effectively.”
“The Alliance is grateful to welcome these two exceptional individuals to our Board,” said Alliance President and CEO Sue Peschin, MHS. “They are true changemakers and fierce advocates for older adults and their collective experiences compliment the diverse talents of our organization’s leadership. I look forward to working with them and enlisting their skills to live our mission and vision.”
