Alliance for Aging Research Congratulates the Honorable Xavier Becerra on his Confirmation as HHS Secretary

April 13th, 2021 – The Alliance for Aging Research commends the Biden Administration and the Senate for appointing Xavier Becerra as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Alliance congratulates Sec. Becerra on his appointment and we are eager to work with him on shared interests and priorities.
On April 13, the Alliance sent a letter to Sec. Becerra congratulating him on his confirmation and introducing him to the variety of age-related issues the Alliance works on, including the organization’s efforts to address the cost of prescription drugs, a top priority for Sec. Becerra and the Administration. The letter highlighted the need to improve affordability at the pharmacy counter (read about the Alliance’s Project Lower-Out-of-Pocket costs), as well as its position on the International Pricing Index and the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review’s discriminatory use of the Quality Adjusted Life-Year measurement.
