Decorated table at 2016 Annual Bipartisan Congressional Awards Dinner.

On Tuesday, September 20, the Alliance held the Annual Bipartisan Congressional Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C., with our peers and supporters to celebrate aging research and recognize outstanding people who help to advance the science of aging. The night was particularly special because it also marked 30 years since the Alliance was founded.

It was a wonderful celebration of the amazing people who tirelessly work to bring aging issues into focus.

The dinner honored Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D., Rep. Maxine Waters, Laura Carstensen, Ph.D., and Robert Temple, M.D.

To recap other events during the dinner:

  • A panel of experts spoke on “Progress Toward Reauthorization of the Prescription Drug and Medical Device User Fee Programs to Benefit Older Adults” during a pre-dinner FDA roundtable.
  • Former U.S. Congressman Billy Tauzin delivered a lively speech introducing Sen. Cassidy, who received this year’s Distinguished Public Service Award.
  • Rep. Waters, Carstensen, and Temple all gave great speeches on the importance of advancing and investing in the science of human aging.

This year’s dinner was a tremendous success, and we thank our sponsors who made the event possible!
