Valve Disease Awareness Day Hits a High Note with Rock from the Heart

February 4, 2025   |   Katrin Werner-Perez   |   Heart Valve Disease, Heart Valve Disease Awareness, Blog

More than 11 million Americans are affected by heart valve disease, yet awareness remains critically low. This is why Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day—observed every year on February 22—is so important. For the first time, Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day and Rock from the Heart will come together on the same day, bringing even more energy and attention to the cause.

Last year’s Rock from the Heart Aortic Education Symposium

Rock from the Heart, a powerful event dedicated to raising awareness of aortic and heart valve diseases, will take place in Saint Paul, Minnesota, over two days, February 21–22. The event kicks off on Friday, February 21, with the Aortic Education Sessions at the Saint Paul Hotel. Leading medical professionals will gather to discuss the latest in research, prevention, and treatment for aortic disease. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from renowned cardiologists, surgeons, and patient advocates, including Dr. John Whyte, Chief Medical Officer of WebMD, who serves on the Board for the Alliance. The event will be emceed by Miss Minnesota 2024, Emily Schumacher.

Following the symposium, the Survivor Recognition Dinner will honor those who have battled aortic disease and recognize the strength of the survivor community. It will also serve as a moment to reflect on those lost to the disease and reaffirm the importance of early detection.

The Spin Doctors

On Saturday, February 22, the Palace Theatre will rock out with a benefit concert headlined by the Spin Doctors, reminding attendees of the power of music in uniting communities and inspiring action.

Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of over 130 partner organizations. Throughout February, partners will host free heart screenings, educational webinars, and awareness campaigns on social media.

As we come together on February 22, 2025, we celebrate the progress made in heart valve disease awareness, but we also recognize how much work remains. By spreading the word, advocating for screenings, and supporting those affected, we can help ensure more people receive the diagnosis and treatment they need—because awareness saves lives.
