2016 was a very big year for the Alliance. We celebrated our 30th anniversary and reflected on the significant accomplishments our small, but mighty, organization has made over the years.
While we reflect on our past, it’s important that we continue our work to advance aging research and issues that are most important to older adults. And we invite you to join us in our efforts.
Here are four reasons to support the Alliance:
- We work to make sure conditions affecting older adults get the recognition they deserve. This year, the Alliance-led Aging in Motion Coalition led the effort to secure an ICD-10-CM code for sarcopenia.
- We created the first Senior Patient and Family Caregiver Network to address the significant underrepresentation of older adults and their caregivers in patient-centered outcomes and comparative effectiveness research.
- This year, we continued our mission of educating patients and their loved ones about stroke risk and prevention, so they can “Celebrate a Year Without a Stroke”. We also highlighted the importance of vaccinations for older adults and the severity of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
- We established and promoted awareness around the first-ever National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day.
The accomplishments listed are just a few of this year’s highlights. To get an overview of our work, we invite you to visit our blog.
We hope you would consider giving a year-end donation, and we’d be very grateful for your support. For more information on donating to the Alliance, visit our donation page or select the Alliance when shopping on AmazonSmile.
