A note from Alliance for Aging Research President and CEO Sue Peschin, MHS:

As 2019 comes to an end, I would like to take the time to reflect on our activities from the past year. While there were countless moments to remember from 2019, here are the top ten moments that stood out:

1. Convening the Friends of PCORI Reauthorization Coalition

2. Reaching millions with Valve Disease Awareness Day

3. Raising awareness of ICER’s promotion of discriminatory drug pricing

4. Advocating for better diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination of Alzheimer’s disease with a survey emphasizing the importance of early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and a study on the real-world Medicare costs of Alzheimer’s disease

5. Educating tens of thousands of people with new health education videos on arrythmias

6. Launching the Silver Book: Parkinson’s Disease

7. Working to reduce out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for older adults

8. Promoting vaccination among older adults with a survey and webinar on vaccine discussions at the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit

9. Celebrating Heroes In Health at the 2019 Annual Bipartisan Congressional Awards Dinner

10. Empowering senior patients and their family caregivers to engage in patient-centered outcomes research at the 2019 Talk NERDY to Me training

My colleagues and I at the Alliance for Aging Research work diligently to fulfill the Alliance’s mission of accelerating the pace of scientific discoveries and their application to vastly improve the universal human experience of aging and health. I am proud that we have made a difference in 2019, and look forward to making 2020 even better.

Wishing you a happy new year,

Sue Peschin
