September marks Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Awareness Month, aimed at improving access to PAD screening and treatments. Peripheral artery disease commonly refers to atherosclerosis of arteries in the legs, and is a major cause of amputations and ulcers. To increase public understanding of atherosclerosis, the Alliance for Aging Research has released an infographic on Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and PAD, two common consequences of atherosclerosis.
