Bonus Podcast Segment "The Check-Up" Launches


Last week, the Alliance released The Check-Up, a bonus segment of the This Is Growing Old podcast, exploring the staff's perspective on current events and our work to advance healthy aging.

The inaugural episode – which already has more than 400 listens – provides an update to Episode 81 of This Is Growing Old which covers the serious implications of proposed federal funding cuts and staffing reductions to Medicaid and nutritional programs.

Impact of Federal Cuts Takes Center Stage at Briefing 

Last week, the Alliance and The Hill hosted a briefing on federal budget cuts and proposed reductions to Medicaid, SNAP, and other
assistance programs.

Nearly 600 virtual attendees joined “Health Safety Net Programs: Will Older Adults Fall Through?” where panelists discussed the impact of proposed cuts on older Americans, while highlighting solutions like PBM reform and the EPIC Act’s “pill penalty” fix.

More than 45 Allies Urge VRBPAC
to Update Vaccine Policy


This month, the Alliance joined more than 45 organizations in a public comment letter urging the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Committee (VRBPAC) to update their COVID-19 vaccine policy. 

The letter asks the FDA, in preparation for the upcoming 2025-2026 respiratory virus season, to follow its preexisting processes for review and, as appropriate, update the approved and authorized
COVID-19 vaccines.

New Study, Documentary Highlights Needs in U.S. Care System

A new report from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health assessed the urgency of local caregiving needs. The report’s scorecard found that 48 percent of America’s states are on the brink of a caregiver emergency.
