Advocacy Win: Letter to CMS Outlines Need for Transparency, Education
Published November 21, 2024
This month, U.S. Reps. H. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) and Vern Buchanan (R-FL) have sent a letter to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, requesting transparency in 2025.
This letter is the result of advocacy work the Alliance has done ensuring Medicare beneficiaries are protected and informed as sweeping reforms to the Part D program take effect. In the letter, Griffith and Buchanan underscore the importance of safeguarding affordable therapies for older Americans, particularly regarding utilization management tools and their potential impact on beneficiary access and costs.
The letter urges CMS to enhance transparency, oversight, and education efforts for beneficiaries, and poses specific questions about plan communication, monitoring, and outreach ahead of the 2025 plan year.
