CMS Town Halls Explore Patient and Clinician Experiences
Published April 30, 2026

This month, the Alliance joined policymakers and experts in discussions examining select drug prices for the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program’s Initial Price Applicability Year 2028 (IPAY). During the town halls, the Alliance provided remarks on behalf of older Americans living with HIV, agitation as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Additionally, the Alliance participated in a roundtable for a diabetes drug which is under consideration for price negotiation.
The Alliance urges the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to ensure that savings achieved through the negotiation program translate directly to lower out-of-pocket costs for beneficiaries and do not impede access. The Alliance also wants to ensure that when patients and their healthcare professionals decide that they should be on a particular medication that they continue to have access.
