Former White House Advisor Joins Alliance for Aging Research Staff

Scott Frey assumes nonprofit’s role of
Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations
The Alliance for Aging Research announces the hiring of Scott Frey to fill the role of Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations. Frey, has more than 30 years of legislative and policy experience in Washington, D.C. Throughout his career, he has been a champion of programs that support working families, with a consistent focus on labor rights, and health and retirement policy. He most recently served as Strategic Advisor to the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy in the Executive Office of the President where he led efforts to widely expand adoption of, and access to, naloxone.
“I am excited to join the Alliance’s skilled and effective team of advocates,” said Frey. “I am delighted at the opportunity to continue my efforts to improve the quality of life of older Americans in support of the mission of the Alliance.”
Frey previously served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. Social Security Administration, Acting Secretary to the Social Security and Medicare Board of Trustees, and as the Security Administration’s White House Liaison and lead for Intergovernmental Affairs. He also served as a legislative advocate for the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM) and later as Executive Director of the NCPSSM Foundation. His early work with the U.S. House Select Committee on Aging led to the enactment of landmark legislation related to elder abuse prevention, significantly increased research on age-related illness and women’s health at the NIH, and expanded preventive health coverage under Medicare.
He has been honored by the Alliance for Aging Research for “exceptional dedication to older Americans,” and received an official commendation from the Commissioner of Social Security for outstanding public service. He earned his M.A. and B.A. from Duquesne University.
