Study Examines Skeletal Muscle Health and Its Importance to Healthy Aging

A study published in the journal Biogerontology aims to “critique current literature relating to the maintenance of muscle mass across lifespan and discuss whether maintaining or reducing protein synthesis is the most logical approach to support musculoskeletal function and by extension healthy human aging.” The authors make note that sarcopenia presents risks to older adults and has the potential to create serious challenges as the population ages.
