Poll: Respondents More Favorable of Candidates Who Support TAVR Access

TAVR — a life-saving minimally-invasive treatment for aortic stenosis that many physicians and patients prefer because it avoids open heart surgery, is not accessible to many of the 2.5 million Americans over age 75 because of barriers in the Medicare system.

According to a poll by the Alliance, voters want Congress to step in and require the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) improve TAVR access. In fact, 84% of adults age 65 and older say they would be more likely to vote for a Congressional candidate who supports requiring Medicare to broaden patient access.

The Alliance is calling on allies to contact CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz to ask him to eliminate CED which is hindering patient care.
