The Senate Finance Subcommittee on Health Care held a hearing in November 2019 on the barriers to the diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination for Alzheimer’s disease and solicited feedback on policy solutions from stakeholders on these important issues. In response to the request for information (RFI), the Alliance for Aging Research submitted two documents:

  • The Alliance’s comment letter on the Subcommittee’s RFI
  • The Alliance for Aging Research is a co-convening organization for the Psychoactive Appropriate Use for Safety and Effectiveness (PAUSE) Project, a coalition of patient advocacy and provider organizations concerned with the safety and effectiveness of antipsychotic medication utilization in American’s nursing homes. The coalition was formed to curb the inappropriate use of antipsychotics and ensure access and appropriate use of these medications by patients who may clinically benefit. This document has our recommendations to improve the quality measure for antipsychotic utilization in nursing homes.
