On February 15, the Alliance for Aging Research and partnering organizations hosted a Twitter chat on age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
AMD affects as many as 11 million older Americans. While the disease does not always present immediate symptoms, it can result in loss of sharp, central vision or legal blindness when left untreated. This Twitter chat focused on the importance of AMD, how the disease affects vision over time, how patients can minimize their risk of getting AMD, and available treatment options.
