Alliance for Aging Research Comments on National Coverage Determination for Mitral Valve Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER)

WASHINGTON, July 30, 2020 – On July 30, 2020, the Alliance for Aging Research spearheaded a group of heart valve disease patients, family caregivers, aging organizations, advocates for minority and women’s health, and cardiologists to call on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop a solid coverage policy that provides all Medicare beneficiaries with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation or functional mitral regurgitation access to mitral valve Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER), previously referred to as Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair (TMVR). The Alliance submitted comments to CMS which were co-signed by the below:
