August 28th, 2020 – On Thursday, August 27, 2020, the Alliance for Aging Research submitted comments to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and ACIP’s important work in developing recommendations and guidance on the use of vaccines. In the comment letter, the Alliance advocates for ACIP to:

  • State a preference for high-dose and adjuvanted flu vaccine over standard-dose vaccine for older adults
  • Add more experts in geriatrics and older adult vaccination to the committee
  • Eliminate the use of economic considerations that discriminate against older adults and individuals with disabilities

Alliance Vice President of Health Education and Advocacy Lindsay Clarke presented these comments in person to the Committee on Wednesday, August 26.
