The Alliance for Aging Research authored a letter that was signed by 79 other patient and research nonprofit organizations, individual researchers, and companies urging President-elect Donald Trump to retain Dr. Francis Collins as the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in his Administration.

The letter endorsed sentiments in support of Director Collins that were expressed earlier this month by House and Energy Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton; Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander; Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Roy Blunt; and House Labor-HHS Subcommittee Chairman Tom Cole.

Alliance for Aging Research President and CEO Sue Peschin states, “A true leader has a following. Dr. Collins is highly respected by the institutes and centers at the NIH, academic research centers across the nation and the world, patient advocacy organizations, industry, and political parties on both sides of the aisle. In a time when scientific breakthroughs are moving faster than ever, the NIH needs steady leadership. We are honored to present the letter to President-elect Trump, and we thank him for considering our views.”
