Earlier this week, Alliance President & CEO Sue Peschin participated in a panel discussion, “More Than Memory Loss: Caring for Those with Alzheimer’s.” Held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the event was moderated by Bob Cusack, Editor-in-Chief of The Hill and sponsored by Otsuka.
The discussion focused on neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) of Alzheimer’s — including mention of the Alliance’s new video series, Expert Conversations on Neuropsychiatric Symptoms of Alzheimer’s —and featured a rock star lineup of policymaker leaders and experts in the field:
- U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Chair, U.S. House Committee on Ways & Means Subcommittee on Health
- U.S. Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-CA), Author, CHANGE Act
- Jennifer Pettis, MS, RN, CNE, Director of Strategic Alliances at The Gerontological Society of America (GSA)
- Jackie Pinkowitz, Co-Founder, Dementia Action Alliance (DAA)
- Carrie Shaw, Caregiver, and CEO/Founder of Embodied Labs®
- Chad Worz, PharmD, BCGP, FASCP, Executive Director, ASCP, and co-convenor of the Alliance’s Project PAUSE effort
The event offered an opportunity to help “shake the stigma” of talking openly about neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia.
