Alliance Applauds Nomination of Collins to be NIH Director

July 1st, 2009, Washington, D.C. – Daniel Perry, executive director of the not-for-profit Alliance for Aging Research, issued the following statement applauding the nomination of Dr. Collins: “Dr. Collins has played a critical role in modern medicine by directing the discovery of genes that have helped us better understand how to extend human health. We admire Dr. Collins’ tireless efforts and outreach with the patient advocacy community in facilitating increased medical innovation and fostering the climate for scientific research toward healthier aging. We also note his valuable role in guiding the decision by the Obama Administration to adopt scientifically sound and patient-centered polities with regards to embryonic stem cell research.”

“The Alliance for Aging Research urges his quick confirmation in the United States Congress, and we look forward to working with Dr. Collins as the director of the NIH to advance healthy aging through research for millions of aging American Baby Boomers.”
