Survey Led by Aging in Motion Coalition Featured in Opening Remarks at ICSFR Conference

In his opening remarks at the International Conference on Frailty & Sarcopenia, Dr. Roger Fielding of Tufts University—co-host of the conference, shared key-findings from the Aging in Motion led survey on physician knowledge of sarcopenia. The findings were published in the January issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
Dr. Fielding kicked off the program by emphasizing that the work of those in the room was really just beginning. The survey highlighted how much we really need to continue to raise awareness about sarcopenia, with less than 20% of internists and family physicians reporting familiarity with the term sarcopenia. While awareness is significantly higher among geriatricians (70%) and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists (41%) there is clearly more work to be done. Dr. Fielding called for the need to continue to increase awareness about sarcopenia.
