It’s that time again for our Annual Bipartisan Congressional Awards Dinner. It’s hard to believe that this is our 21st year.
Back when we had our first dinner, we were still a fairly young organization. Now 20 years later a lot has changed. Aging research has changed. And even more exciting, the science behind aging research has changed. Scientists are closer than ever to discovering the reasons why we age…and to putting them into practical application in the real world.
This dinner celebrates those scientists. And health care providers. And policymakers. And all those who contribute to the cause of aging research.
For the past 20 years, we’ve set aside an evening to reflect on the past accomplishments and focus on still unmet tasks. It’s our chance to showcase the serious business of aging research and its importance to the future well-being of our country and to enjoy good company, good food and to remind ourselves about why we do what we do.
This year’s dinner takes place on September 30, 2014, at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m. The gala event honors those who help advance the science of human aging. This year’s honorees include: U.S. Senator Bill Nelson from Florida; former Indiana governor and Purdue University president Mitchell E. Daniels Jr.; curator and chairman of TEDMED Jay Walker; and biochemist, geneticist and entrepreneur J. Craig Venter, one of the first scientists to sequence the human genome. This year’s dinner promises to be another great event. And we’d love for you to be a part of it. If you are interested in attending this year’s dinner, you can find out more information here.
