Alliance Honored with 2 Telly Awards

June 13, 2023   |   Katrin Werner-Perez   |   Healthy Aging

We are proud to announce that the Alliance for Aging Research has been awarded two Telly Awards in recognition of exemplary educational videos. These two specifically recognize Living with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) and Our Best Shot: Preventing and Treating the Flu which were produced within the last year.

With the goal of making informed healthcare decisions more accessible for all, the Alliance has been creating educational films that navigate the complexities of different diagnoses in older adults for close to two decades. By providing easy access to evidence-based information, our films equip viewers with the tools they need to make informed decisions, fostering independent and empowered healthcare choices.

The films have made an impact by reaching millions of individuals through diverse channels that have amplified our messages across various platforms. Through social media, TV public service announcements (PSAs), digital advertising, streaming at hospitals and healthcare offices, and more, we have educated on sepsis, vaccination, nutrition, sarcopenia, neuropsychiatric symptoms, stroke prevention, and so much more.

We are proud to announce that our work continues to be honored by the esteemed Telly Awards. The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 and recognize the best work created within television and across video, for all screens. Each year they receive 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents and winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies, and publishers from around the world.

The Alliance is honored to have received numerous Telly Awards for educational films over the years, including:

Bronze Telly

Silver Telly

Gold Telly

This year’s PSAs are:

Living with Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) discusses atrial fibrillation, one of the most common types of arrhythmias—or irregular heartbeats—which causes the heart to have an irregular rhythm and often beat rapidly. AFib can be physically exhausting, scary, and disabling and raises the risk of heart failure, dementia, and stroke. The video discusses how, with proper treatment, these risks can be significantly decreased and people with AFib can live healthy and active lives.

Our Best Shot: Preventing and Treating the Flu gives an overview of influenza (the “flu”), how it spreads, what to do if you get the flu, and the importance of preventive efforts, especially vaccination. By debunking common myths, showing when and where you can get a flu shot, and providing examples of different flu vaccines, including those designed for older adults, the Alliance aims to increase flu vaccination rates.

All of the education films produced by the Alliance can be found in our video library.
